RAFTING PETROHUÉ RIVER
What awaits them?
The day begins with the Van de Ko'Kayak that picks you up at the door of your Hotel to welcome you. The Van will pick up other passengers at different Hotels/Hostels in Puerto Varas, including those that are on the way. Once we are en route, we will travel approximately 35 minutes along a very pleasant road that will skirt Lake Llanquihue to our base of operations located in Ensenada.
Along the way there are many opportunities to take beautiful pictures.
If you prefer to meet us at our base, we have car parks and all the facilities you need including a restaurant. Meeting us here is a good option if you plan to go to the Osorno national park or volcano before or after the river trip.
Once at the base, our team of guides (trained and certified in first aid in remote areas and rescue techniques in troubled waters) will receive you and give you a detailed safety talk before proceeding to the equipment delivery: Full body suit, jacket and shoes, all neoprene. Life jackets renewed every two seasons and approved helmets.
You can wear a bathing suit, socks and a t-shirt (avoid cotton fabric on cold days).
The water of the Petrohué river reaches 18 degrees Celsius in summer and during the descent your dry clothes will remain in the van. Don't forget to bring a towel for later.
Anything you may lose is safer in the Van rather than on the raft and if you have valuables feel free to give them directly to our driver for added security.
Once they are ready, they wait for us for 10 min. more of a tour in the Van and we arrived at the river. We will practice the different paddling techniques before getting into action with the first rapid: “Ciao Seco”. From here there are 11 km of continuous fun, full of class III+ and IV rapids, such as: “Ese”, “Los Pollos”, “Queso Suizo” and “El Nadador” among many others.
We enjoyed a few places where we stopped to get off the raft and experience the River in different ways: climbing the cliffs on the shore and jumping into the clear waters, swimming and letting ourselves be carried away by a zone of rapids soft, etc.
Once the long journey is over, we arrive at the disembarkation point and the dressing rooms that we have on the banks of the river to change our clothes before returning to the Base where we enjoy a delicious snack while looking at the photos that our team proposes to us. photographer.
